New beads

Had an opportunity to get in some practice in the glass studio this weekend and made these beads. The largest one that I liked best cracked during the annealing process and was not photographed.
All beads shown measure from 1/2" to 1" in length and 1/2" to 3/4" in width.

Tagged

One of my favorite artists, Jeri Aaron has tagged me. Check out her art at: http://www.artfulgathering.typepad.com/

I have to tell 4 (more) quirky things about my self:
1 - Collecting rocks has always been one of my favorite pastimes.
2 - Kayaking is my newest recreational interest.
3 - I enjoy Pandora radio, that's not really quirky but I am outrageously crazy about all kinds of music.
4 - Talking endlessly about cooking and trying new recipes is way fun!

Now I will tag 4 bloggers whose art I admire and enjoy. Please check out their work. I will let them know they have been tagged and they can share some of their favorite art blogs.

I've been tagged!

My talented friend Brenda at http://www.memoriesandtreasures.blogspot.com/ has tagged me so please check out her wonderful work. Now I have to relate 6 quirky things about myself. Then tag 5 of my blogging friends, then let them know they have been tagged.

Here goes:
1 - I like to cut my own hair.
2 - I'd rather be outside most days.
3 - The kitchen sink faucet MUST be over the left side of the sink.
4 - My idea of a great vacation would be fossil hunting in the Badlands .
5 - I've wanted to skydive since I was young.
6 - At night I like to watch the sky for meteors and UFO's.

Now I am tagging the following bloggers I admire:

Elizabeth at http://alteredbooklover.blogspot.com/

Day of the Dead

Peg gave me a wonderful bead for Halloween! It was made by Bronwen Heilman, a glass artist from Tucson. She is teaching a class this weekend at Blue Moon Glassworks in Austin TX. The bead measures about 1" x .50".

ACC container

This is the container I created for the altered cabinet cards I will swap this month. To make this box I started with chipboard cut to form a bottom and lid measuring 1.50" x 5" x 7.25". Then I masked and spritzed plain brown paper with dye inks to cover the chipboard. The 1st image shows the bottom and inside of the container. The 2nd image shows the top of the box and is tied with a bow and ready to go.

ACC #25

Now for something completely different

One of the projects I worked on at the art retreat was this ornament made with microscope slides. Brenda Wampler showed us this technique. She is a terrific teacher with lots of great ideas.

I spent September 18-21 at a most wonderful art retreat. The creativity and spending time with old and new friends was so inspiring. Obviously I have decided to alter more cabinet cards. Enjoy!
